The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is a tax benefit for working people who earn lower or moderate incomes. The credit offsets taxes, supplements very low wages, and encourages work.

Income and family size determine the amount of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). The income amounts and the amount of EITC are adjusted for inflation each year. 

The following table summarizes the income limits and range of EITC for Tax Year 2017.

If you qualify for the Federal EITC, and meet eligibility criteria, you could receive an additional 40% tax credit from the DC EITC.

The CAAB-managed DC EITC Campaign, is a citywide, cross-sector initiative that provides access to information on the EITC and connects Washingtonians with free tax preparation services throughout the District.
