“One Of The Best” Non-Profits

Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB) was Recognized as “One Of The Best” Local Non- Profit Organizations in the Greater DC Area by the 2013-2014 Catalogue For Philanthropy

Washington, DC – November 1, 2013 – Capital Area Asset Builders (www.caab.org) is honored to announce its continued recognition as one of Greater Washington’s best community-based charities in the 2013-2014 Catalogue for Philanthropy.

“We believe this award reflects CAAB’s status as a highly effective local non-profit organization, working to empower low and moderate income residents of the Greater DC area to take control of their finances, increase savings and build wealth for a better future,” said Richard Petersen, CAAB’s Executive Director.

CAAB was selected to be refeatured in the 11th annual Catalogue for Philanthropy, which has, since 2003, raised more than $21 million for featured non-profits. The Catalogue's vetting process is rigorous: members of a 120-person review team, made up of foundations, corporations, peer non-profits and the philanthropic advisory community,

evaluate non-profits on the basis of program impact and fiscal soundness and each featured non-profit is visited on-site by at least one member of the review team.

“Donors know they can trust the Catalogue to help them make smart decisions about local nonprofits where their contributions will really make a difference,” notes Catalogue President Barbara Harman. “The Washington, DC region ranks third in wealth disparity in the nation – having one of the most affluent (and well-educated) populations in the country, and also one of the poorest. We are in a unique position to help our neighbors by connecting donors and volunteers to worthy, local nonprofits working to strengthen the D.C. region. The Catalogue makes it easy to learn about community needs and to help meet them.”

In November, 25,000 individuals and hundreds of family foundations will receive copies of the print Catalogue.
