Re-Launching a Clothing Designer Small Business with a CAAB IDA

“Learning why and how to save is very important for small business owners. CAAB helped me to get started. The rest is up to me!” Mertine’s goals for the future are to expand her designs and hire local seamstresses.

“You have to plan and work hard to implement that plan. It’s a lot of work but if you stay focused then you will achieve your goals and dreams,” said Mertine. She  successfully re-launched her clothing designer small business in late 2012 with the funds from her Individual Development Account (IDA) provided by Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB).

Mertine used the IDA funds to develop and manufacture a new product, hire several local service providers and launch an online portal for her designs.
