On December 14th, the first of its kind Washington Area Immigrant Integration Convening brought together close to 100 non-profit, government and community leaders as well as elected officials from the District of Columbia, Prince George’s County, Montgomery County and Northern Virginia to address legal, language, social and economic challenges and opportunities faced by Latino, Asian & Pacific Islander and African immigrant communities residing in the Washington metro region.

On December 14th, the first of its kind Washington Area Immigrant Integration Convening brought together close to 100 non-profit, government and community leaders as well as elected officials from the District of Columbia, Prince George’s County, Montgomery County and Northern Virginia to address legal, language, social and economic challenges and opportunities faced by Latino, Asian & Pacific Islander and African immigrant communities residing in the Washington metro region. 

Per data presented by The Urban Institute, the Washington Metropolitan Area is home to over 1.2 million immigrants; 75% of whom are low-income.

The Convening was organized by Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB) together with CARECEN, LEDC, CASA, Ethiopian Community Center and Asian Pacific American Legal Resource Center.
