CAAB and Maryland CASH Campaign on the Radio to Raise EITC Awareness

 
On March 5th, Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB) and Maryland CASH Campaign were the guests of The Daily Drum on WHUR 96.3 FM and H.U.R. Voices SiriusXM Channel 141 to raise awareness of the Earned Income Tax Credit, inform the community on free tax preparation services in DC, Maryland and Virginia and incentivize listeners to save during tax season.

At the invitation of Harold Fisher, Host of The Daily Drum on WHUR 96.3 FM and H.U.R. Voices SiriusXM Channel 141, Joseph Leitmann-Santa Cruz, Director of External Relations of Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB), and Robin McKinney, Director of the Maryland CASH Campaign, were interviewed on March 5th.

During the interview Mr. Leitmann-Santa Cruz and Ms. McKinney discussed the key anti-poverty tool the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) has been in the United States during the past 40 years, eligibility requirements to claim the EITC and the need to further educate & inform the community on the EITC and other tax credits. Furthermore, they discussed how low- and moderate-income individuals in the District of Columbia and Maryland can also benefit from a State-level EITC. Lastly, they also focused on local EITC awareness campaigns, free tax preparation services, asset-building initiatives and saving campaigns managed by their organizations in the District of Columbia and Maryland.
