CAAB and Project Empowerment On the Radio to Discuss Financial Empowerment for Returning Citizens in DC

On February 10, 2015, Charles Jones, Associate Director of the District of Columbia Department of Employment Services, and Joseph Leitmann-Santa Cruz, Director of External Relations for Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB), joined Roach Brown, Host and Producer of Crossroads on the Pacifica Radio Network WPFW 89.3 FM, to discuss the partnership between CAAB and Project Empowerment to provide financial capability to the participants of Project Empowerment.

"Our partnership with CAAB has been very useful for our participants," said Mr. Jones. "Teaching financial education to our participants and enabling them to spend quality time one-on-one with a CAAB financial coach is a great complement to the other supportive services we offer our participants."

Thanks to the support from Citi Foundation, CAAB and Project Empowerment have provided for over a year, financial education classes and one-on-one financial coaching to low- and moderate-income residents of the District of Columbia participating in the program and who face multiple barriers to employment.

"By partnering with Project Empowerment, we assist community members who face a challenge in obtaining employment and who aspire to achieve a better life for them and their families," said Mr. Leitmann-Santa Cruz.
