CAAB Launches #DCEITC Metro Awareness Initiative at Metro Stations and on Metro Buses
Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB) is pleased to launch a #DCEITC awareness initiative in the District of Columbia. Thanks to the support from WMATA and the DC Office of Tax and Revenue, from January 2019 through February 2019, CAAB will display #DCEITC ads at 5 Metro stations in Washington, DC and on 220 Metro buses with routes inside Washington, DC to inform Washingtonians on the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC).
The EITC is the most effective public policy in the nation to lift Americans out of poverty. In the District of Columbia, CAAB estimates that approximately 20,000 EITC-eligible Washingtonians are not claiming the EITC thus not receiving over $40 million associated with this very important tax credit.
CAAB's #DCEITC Metro Awareness Initiative is an initiative of the CAAB-managed DC EITC Campaign. The DC EITC Campaign, is a citywide, cross-sector initiative that provides access to information on the EITC and connects Washingtonians with free tax preparation services provided by trusted community based organizations throughout all 8 Wards and online.
The DC EITC Campaign is made possible through the support from the DC Department of Insurance, Securities and Banking (DISB), Citi Community Development, Washington Gas, United Way of the National Capital Area as well as other key private sector partners.
For more information on how to partner with CAAB on the DC EITC Campaign please contact Joseph Leitmann-Santa Cruz, CAAB's Associate Director and Manager of the DC EITC Campaign, by phone at (202) 419-1440 x 102 or by email at jleitmann-santacruz@caab.org.

Community Tax Aid

Community Tax Aid (CTA) was founded in 1987 with a mission to provide high-quality free income tax services to low-income taxpayers in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. CTA's primary goal is to promote economic stability through accurate and timely filing of tax returns and secondarily to connect taxpayers to other asset building opportunities. Our services are critical to the financial well-being of low-income families and their ability to build wealth. The tax return is required in order to obtain tax refunds and key credits, such as the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), and other asset-building opportunities, such as qualifying for academic financial aid/or obtaining a mortgage or a small business loan. Annually, we help over 6,000 low-income taxpayers overcome barriers created by the cost and complexity of tax compliance so they can build their financial futures.
