CAAB to Present at NDCC's 2018 National Conference on the Role of the EITC in Lifting Americans Out of Poverty

On May 31, 2018, Joseph Leitmann-Santa Cruz, CAAB's Associate Director and Manager of the DC EITC Campaign, will lead the workshop "The Role of the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) in Lifting Americans Out of Poverty" at the 2018 National Conference of the Network for Developing Conscious Communities (NDCC).

For the past four decades, the EITC has been considered the most effective poverty alleviation public policy. While this policy has lifted millions of Americans out of poverty, it’s estimated that 20% of EITC-eligible citizens are not claiming this important tax credit. This workshop will explore why low-income individuals and families—primarily people of color—are not benefiting from the EITC; review best practices across the nation on EITC awareness; and, identify strategies that can be developed by non-profits, public government entities and private companies to address this challenge.
