New Online Lending Platform Launched Today for Small Business Owners in the Greater DC Area
DCSmallBizLoans.com is an online lending platform shared by four Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) doing business in Washington, DC. A CDFI is a specialized financial institution that works in communities that are underserved by traditional financial institutions. We provide a unique range of loan products and services to help disadvantaged entrepreneurs launch and expand small businesses. In 2014, we collectively loaned more than $6.2 million to small businesses in the Washington DC metro area, and we are working hard to grow our lending capital.
The lending platform was brought to and tailored for the District market at the direction of the DC Small Business Policy Project, co-convened by the Coalition for Nonprofit Housing and Economic Development (CNHED) and the DC Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD). One of our goals is to make it easier for entrepreneurs to access the capital they need to launch and grow successful businesses.
