CAAB Seeks an Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist

 
The Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist is responsible for recording accounting transactions in the Quickbooks system (QB); invoicing vendors for receipt of payment, generating contract reports; and assisting the accounting savings team with QB account reconciliation.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

ACCOUNTS PAYABLE/RECEIVABLE SPECIALIST

BACKGROUND:

Capital Area Asset Builders (CAAB) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to create opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals in the greater DC region to build financial security, savings, and wealth for the future. 

Position Summary: The Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialist is responsible for recording accounting transactions in the Quickbooks system (QB); invoicing vendors for receipt of payment, generating contract reports; and assisting the accounting savings team with QB account reconciliation.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Record financial transactions in Quickbooks.
  • Manage CAAB’s accounts payables and receivables.
  • Assist in annual audit preparation.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Research and process equipment purchases for organization.
  • Reconcile petty cash account monthly.
  • Generate invoices/reports to back up auto-debit transactions from CAAB Bank accounts.
  • Assist in posting transactions in Quickbooks related to CAAB Savings Programs.
  • Process expense reports in an accurate and timely manner and in accordance with departmental procedures.  
  • Post grant receivables in Quickbooks and notify Development Department, Chief Financial Officer, and Chief Executive Director of receipt of funds.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of Accounts payable or receivable experience required.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in either accounting, finance, or business administration.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
  • Committed to providing excellent customer service, with demonstrated ability to follow instructions and carefully review work for accuracy.
  • Strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to act independently to identify and analyze problems, recommend cost-effective solutions, and document practices.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and under pressure.
  • Able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills, full command of MS Office products, technology skills.
  • Excellent presentation, time management and organization skills
  • Ability to listen to customer needs and promote financially sound decision-making.
  • Experience working with low- and moderate-income individuals and families.
  • Cultural understanding and awareness of socio-economic matters in the Washington metropolitan region.


DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

  • Salary Range: $55,000 to $60,000, depending on experience.
  • 10% match paid by CAAB into your CAAB 401(k) retirement account.
  • $2,100 annual utilities & food reimbursement paid by CAAB to you on a monthly basis.

  • 10 Vacation Days. 
  • Hybrid Work Environment: Approximately 75% from Home and 25% at the Office or at Community-based events.

Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM Monday through Friday with some evening and weekend hours required as needed.

FBI/Police clearance and DC Child Protective Registry clearance are required.
