Thousands of eligible DC hard working, low-income families are leaving millions of $ on the table every year. We need to ensure that all eligible DC tax filers claim and receive the Federal EITC. The IRS Estimates that almost 28% of eligible Federal EITC tax filers in DC are not claiming the EITC.
Let's raise awareness of the EITC in DC!
The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) is refundable, meaning that recipients whose credit exceeds their federal income tax liability can receive the difference as a refund.
The Federal EITC in the District of Columbia:
- Over 54,000 low-income DC residents claimed in the Federal EITC
- DC residents received over $124 million in Federal EITC
- The average Federal EITC amount was $2,351
- 18% of total DC tax filers received the Federal EITC
The IRS Estimates that almost 28% of eligible Federal EITC tax filers in DC are not claiming the EITC.
The Federal EITC puts money directly into the pockets of hard working, low-income DC families.
