Washington, D.C. - When the Metro Washington Bankers Group heard about CAAB's Jobs & Entrepenuership Stimulus Accounts program (JESA), they donated $10,000.00 on the spot to sponsor five local entrepenuers.

With operating funds already raised for this initiative, CAAB is seeking additional partners like the Metro Washington Bankers Group to match against Federal funds to invest into DC’s emerging entrepreneurs.  Every client completing this program will receive $4,500 to invest in their own small business or to put towards job-training expenses to help them become economically self-sufficient and better able to take part in the local economy.

Without the locally-raised matching funds, CAAB will need to return the funds to the Federal Government in the first quarter of 2013, leading to the loss of over $1.2Million that otherwise would have been used to stimulate the local economy and increase the number of skilled workers to compete for local jobs.

Quick facts about JESA:

  • Each client will receive an 8:1 match against the client’s own savings during the 12-month long program, turning their $500 dollar investment into $4,500
  • Each client will need to be sponsored by local funders, costing $2,000 per client
  • This investment yields a 2.25x return as the sponsor’s dollars are matched 1:1 with Federal funds that have been already raised by CAAB.
